Katia Fach G\u00f3mez<\/strong>, Dr iur., LLM, is a tenured Lecturer (Profesora Titular, acreditada a Catedr\u00e1tica) of Private International Law at the University of Zaragoza<\/a> <\/strong>(Spain).<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

She is the author of several legal books and book chapters published in English, Spanish and German by renowned international publishers. Her latest co-edited volume is\u00a0The Award in International Investment Arbitration<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<\/a><\/em>(Oxford University Press 2024) and her latest legal monograph in English is\u00a0Technological Competence of Arbitrators. A Comparative and International Legal Study<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(Springer 2023). Katia\u00b4s scholarly articles have appeared in a number of international peer-reviewed law reviews and she is also frequently invited to speak at international conferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\"\"\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Katia graduated summa cum laude<\/em> from the University of Zaragoza, holds a European PhD and an LLM from Fordham University<\/strong><\/a> (NY-US) (summa cum laude and Edward J Hawk prize). She has taught international litigation, conflict of laws, international investment and commercial arbitration, ADR, global law, fundamentals of law, etc., at numerous European, US, and Latin American universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has worked two years as a seconded national expert for the European Union in Brussels and has directed the International Campus of Excellence Iberus<\/strong><\/a> at her alma mater. \u00a0She acts regularly as external expert appointed by various international institutions and national research agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Katia has been involved in various key international litigation cases in the USA and Europe, and has acted as arbitrator and mediator in domestic and international disputes. Additionally, Katia has been designated by the Kingdom of Spain to the Panel of Conciliators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes<\/strong><\/a> (ICSID- World Bank) (2020-2026).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She has been the recipient of a highly-competitive Humboldt Scholarship for senior scientists<\/strong><\/a>. She is also a member of the International Law Association<\/strong><\/a> (ILA), the International Academy of Comparative Law<\/strong><\/a> (IACL) and the European Society of International Law<\/strong><\/a> (ESIL) and is elected member of the editing board of various legal journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Besides her academic career as a legal scholar, Katia has a clear vocation for dissemination and has demonstrated her narrative talent in other genres. She regularly publishes opinion articles in Heraldo de Arag\u00f3n<\/strong><\/a>, has collaborated with media outlets such as\u00a0<\/em>El Confidencial<\/a>, The Conversation<\/a>, Alta\u00efr Magazine<\/a> and Zenda<\/a><\/strong>, and has won awards for her short stories. She is co-author of the non-fiction book \u201cArte secuestrado<\/a>\u201d<\/strong> (\u201cAbducted Art\u201d<\/em>) published by Pen\u00ednsula in 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
