Environmental pollution knows no borders. Consequently, pollution cases increasingly harm the natural resources of more than one State. From the perspective of private international law, these transnational cases raise diverse and intriguing legal questions. Addressing this issue, the present monograph focuses on the many questions that arise in the field of applicable law. In this regard, and after clarifying the factual scenario of this study (damage caused by transboundary pollution), it offers a thorough analysis of the connecting factor used by conflict-of-law rules in the tort sector. Likewise, the work examines various criteria\u2014such as accessory connection or party autonomy\u2014that qualify the application of the lex loci delicti. It also provides a detailed analysis of the scope of the tort statute and discusses the role, in environmental matters, of overriding mandatory rules, conduct and safety regulations, and foreign administrative authorizations.

Through these training materials, readers will learn to use legal Spanish vocabulary in its proper operational context and will be able to understand the linguistic and conceptual differences among the various countries of Latin America and Spain. At the same time, they will become familiar with the provisions and documents most commonly used in legal practice in Spanish. Finally, they will also be able to improve their listening and legal writing skills.
